Position Summary

GWx is seeking a Plumbing Engineer to join our Mission Critical Engineering team. You will design sophisticated plumbing and utility systems for AI campuses, hyperscale data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and other mission-critical environments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design Leadership

Engineering at GWx is about solving complex problems and delivering long-term value.

  • Design domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, stormwater, natural gas, and specialty plumbing systems

  • Design equipment drainage, condensate, process water, and mission-critical utility systems

  • Develop plumbing calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documents

  • Coordinate site utility interfaces and building service requirements

  • Coordinate with architects and all engineering disciplines

  • Design for reliability, water efficiency, constructability, maintainability, flexibility, and lifecycle performance

Engineering Analysis & Technical Excellence

Engineer facilities that simply cannot fail through rigorous technical analysis.

  • Perform domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, gas, and equipment sizing calculations

  • Evaluate system capacity, pressure requirements, redundancy, and resilience

  • Support water conservation and sustainable design strategies

  • Evaluate utility availability and infrastructure requirements

  • Support value engineering without compromising reliability or performance

Project Leadership & Delivery

Lead technical execution throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Participate in planning, design reviews, and client meetings

  • Coordinate with owners, utilities, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Review submittals, respond to RFIs, perform site observations, and support commissioning

  • Support project managers with schedule and technical coordination

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with plumbing technologies, water conservation strategies, and industry standards

  • Develop engineering best practices

  • Share technical knowledge

  • Pursue professional licensure and certifications

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor junior engineers and designers

  • Review technical work

  • Promote collaboration and continuous learning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related engineering discipline

  • 4-10+ years of consulting engineering experience

  • Working knowledge of applicable plumbing and building codes

  • Experience designing commercial or industrial plumbing systems

  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain

    CPD certification

    Mission Critical/Data Center experience

    Experience with high-density technology facilities, industrial facilities, or advanced manufacturing

    Knowledge of IPC, UPC, NFPA, ASPE standards, and applicable local codes

    Experience with Bluebeam, BIM360, and plumbing calculation software

The anticipated base salary range for this position is provided in good faith and represents GWx's reasonable expectation for compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, technical expertise, professional licensure, certifications, geographic location, project experience, and overall qualifications. This position may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and other benefits.
