Position Summary

GWx is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Mission Critical Engineering team. You will design sophisticated mechanical infrastructure for AI campuses, hyperscale data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and other mission-critical environments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design Leadership

Engineering at GWx is about solving complex problems and delivering long-term value.

• Design high-performance HVAC, chilled water, condenser water, hydronic, and air distribution systems

• Develop cooling solutions for high-density and mission-critical environments, including air- and liquid-cooled systems

• Prepare plans, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and construction documents

• Coordinate with architects and all engineering disciplines

• Design for reliability, redundancy, energy efficiency, constructability, maintainability, flexibility, and lifecycle performance

Engineering Analysis & Technical Excellence

Engineer facilities that simply cannot fail through rigorous technical analysis.

• Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, pressure drop calculations, and system analysis

• Evaluate mechanical system redundancy, resilience, and failure scenarios

• Analyze energy efficiency and system performance

• Support value engineering without compromising reliability or performance

• Evaluate emerging cooling technologies for high-density computing environments

Project Leadership & Delivery

Lead technical execution throughout the project lifecycle.

• Participate in planning, design reviews, and client meetings

• Coordinate with owners, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams

• Review submittals, respond to RFIs, perform site observations, and support commissioning

• Support project managers with schedule and technical coordination

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging cooling technologies and mission-critical design practices

• Develop engineering best practices

• Share technical knowledge

• Pursue professional licensure and certifications

Mentorship & Team Development

• Mentor junior engineers and designers

• Review technical work

• Promote collaboration and continuous learning

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• 4-10+ years of consulting engineering experience

• Working knowledge of applicable mechanical codes and standards

• Experience with HVAC and hydronic system design

• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain

• Mission Critical/Data Center experience

• Experience with high-density cooling and liquid cooling systems

• Experience with Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, Bluebeam, BIM360, or similar engineering tools

• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, ASME, and applicable energy codes

The anticipated base salary range for this position is provided in good faith and represents GWx's reasonable expectation for compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, technical expertise, professional licensure, certifications, geographic location, project experience, and overall qualifications. This position may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and other benefits.
